HELLO HELLO HELLO! WHAT AN EXCITING TIME THAT IS UPON US. We are officially accepting applications for THREE different chairs this semester (absolutely bananas.)
Qualifications are minimal:
-You must be a current member of the Crew Team
-You must have shown/currently show a strong dedication to making this event bigger and better each year
-You must be AT MOST a rising Junior (current sophomore.) WE ARE REALLY LOOKING FOR SOME FRESHMEN, SO PLEASE APPLY.
-You cannot be on the Executive Board (this means that if chosen, you will not be allowed to run for Executive Board for at least two years to enable someone else to be properly trained for your position)
Responsibilities of a Co-Chair include:
-Serving as a liaison to major community outposts, businesses, campus, the McKenna family, the team, and other collaborators
-Planning and organizing all aspects of the event
-Hold and lead meetings with committee, sub committee, etc.
-Delegating tasks to your respective sub-committee
-Selecting and training new co-chairs when in your senior year to succeed you
-Weekly committee meetings as well as meetings with Club Sports
-Assist with other committee members in the completion of collective tasks
Position Specific Duties:
Public Relations Sub-Chair:
you will be trained under Shannon
-Serve as the main form of contact with businesses, the McKenna family and the community
-Upkeep all social media accounts and relations with the team
-Organize tasks and lead McKenna committee members
-Prepare and make race-day announcements, speeches, etc.
you will be trained under Ian
-Sponsorship (contacting new/old businesses, finalizing brochure packets, keeping track of businesses involvement)
you will be trained under Natalia
-Establishing all race-day necessities (i.e performances, site plans, Harpur's Ferry)
-Collaborating all permits, contact with police, etc.
*It is important to note that although this position is only a 2-year commitment (one year as a sub-chair, and at least one year as a co-chair), we are looking for people who are planning on dedicating themselves and their time to this race. It takes time to train someone in the tasks that are necessary to be a Co-Chair. Before you submit your application please seriously consider your availability for future semesters. Being a part of this committee is an incredibly rewarding experience that will allow you to be a larger and more integral part of this team and provide you with real world marketing, budgeting, and production experience.

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION IS NEXT FRIDAY, 3/3/2017. Please get in your materials by this date at 11:59pm so we can hold interviews and have our new chairs selected a week prior to the race. You will be working alongside the current committee the week of 3/25-4/1 if selected.
This is currently being pushed back. If you did not apply but wanted to, you are not too late. Stick around for announcements in the near future.
IF you are at all interested in becoming a chair, please let a member of the committee know so we can give you a position of increased responsibility on race day. This will allow you to have a bigger part in the race, feel out if you want to apply, and for us to see how well you operate in this setting.
